About me

ENDURANCE ATHLETE  –  SPEAKER  – DAD  –  OVERCOMER

Eric served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He was wounded during combat action by an IED.

Recovering from the amputation, Eric began with an ironman and now competes in racing events across the country.

Eric travels across the country to speak, inspire and motivate others to tackle their challenges and build pride in their lives.

Marine

I earned a mechanical engineering degree from the Naval Academy while preparing to serve as a Marine Infantry Officer.  On my final deployment, I was wounded by an IED explosion in Afghanistan.  I lost my right leg below the knee—an experience that changed my life and began my next journey

Athlete

Training for an Ironman triathlon quickly became rehab for my right leg amputation. I’ve now finished 9 Ironman distance races.  I’ve also had the privelege of representing team USA in the Paralympic Games in both Tokyo and Paris. A few notable races are the Ironman World Championships, Norseman, Empire State Building run up, Tokyo and Paris Paralympic Games and the SOS triathlon.  This list could go on for pages. I’ve certainly become passionate about racing.

Speaker

I’ve had the opportunity to share my story on stages across the country, speaking about resilience, faith, and finding purpose through adversity. Since leaving the military in 2013, I’ve had the privelege of speaking to hundreds of audiences and I’m grateful for the opportunity to encourage others.

Family

I’m married to my wife, Rachel, whom I met at the U.S. Naval Academy—we both studied mechanical engineering and even passed notes in Thermodynamics class (true story). We have three kids and live in Pittsburgh, not far from where I grew up. Our kids stay busy with school, sports and music, and we’re actively involved at our church, Crossroads Ministries.
